EMR/EHR:

Some things to consider:

1.Price – Cost per physician could range from $15k, $20k or  even more PER provider?!

Unlike many of our competitors, Encore does not charge per provider. Our products all have the ability to add providers as necessary, allowing you the freedom to grow. Also any updates or customization to the program are available to all of the providers regardless of when they were added. This means when you purchase upgrades or additional products, all your providers benefit.

2. Integration – Will this EMR system be integrated with my Accounts Receivable and Appointment Scheduling programs or will double-entry become a way of life?

Our PARIS products fit seamlessly along with our Accounts Receivable and  Appointment scheduling packages. Allowing for complete maneuverability and transfer of data within the systems. PARIS is completely integrated into each aspect of the clinical software. Whether it be transfer of charges or inquiry, everything is linked within the products.

3. Compatibility - Is the EMR right for you and can it be customized to fit YOUR needs? - "Dr Smith’s EMR system is great for his Orthopedic Clinic, but it really doesn’t apply to our Dialysis services."

This is extremely important to consider. There are plenty of EMR "success stories", but just as many failures – often times due to incompatibility. Each practice is unique and has its own set of needs in relation to EMR. It is critical to discuss this with your vendor (or prospective vendor) and feel comfortable that their product will fit exactly what you need. Encore has a 35-year track history of providing outstanding customized software to meet the needs of a wide variety of specialties.

4. Support -  Was the EMR originally created by a smaller company, only to be gobbled up by a larger one needing an EMR to add to its "complete package"? If so, what will my support be like?

There are literally thousands of choices when it comes to healthcare IT products. Many with origins that are nearly impossible to trace. Would you buy a car if you were concerned that you might not be able to fix something that breaks? Of course not. At Encore, ALL of our software is developed, sold & supported by us – and it has been this way since 1970. Our customer service is second to none – and as rare as it is these days, you will actually speak to a live human when you call Encore…every time!

5. Improved Care – Does this product truly improve the care that our patients receive?

Many practices have overlooked this in the rush to try & become "fully paperless". Although you can cost justify an EMR purchase with such savings as fewer supplies (like paper and ink) less need for space, and fewer man hours, you must also consider how an EMR will affect how you practice medicine.
